Firmware Engineer

Itron is seeking a firmware engineer to be a member of an agile, cross-functional team primarily responsible for new and continued development and support of an embedded Linux-based platform architecture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Task delivery within a multi-phase development process for current and new product, to include requirement definition, design, development, testing, support, and maintenance.
- Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate complexity and familiarity with sound engineering and embedded firmware principles.
- Interface verbal and written with cross-functional teams and management.
Qualifications: Required 2-5 years related experience
- Algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design
- Effective C++ programming, shell scripting languages, debug techniques
- Multi-thread and multi-process concepts
- Linux development and embedded boot-up / runtime environments
- Source code management concepts (Git)
- Multi-phase development process and effective team collaboration
Preferred related experience:
- Standard Template Library (STL), Inter Process Communication (IPC), multi-threads
- Kernel module and device driver development and principles
- GNU compiler and toolchains
- Build configuration and make system (cmake / ctest)
- Database design and SQL (sqlite3)
- Network and data transfer protocols (IP, COSEM/DLMS, DBUS)
- Code profiling and memory analysis tools (Valgrind, Coverity)
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
