Role- Systems Engineer

Itron is currently looking for a windows/Linux Engineer to provide vulnerability management support to meet the corporate patch governance requirements. The Engineer will work with Security, infrastructure, application, and customer teams to make sure OS level vulnerability issues are addressed in Itron hosted environments. The work will include our datacenters systems as well as cloud hosted windows and Linux environments.

Job Responsibilities

• Implementing and managing operating system (Linux and Windows) patching processes
• Develop and optimize pre- and post- patching processes to ensure proper implementation without any outages.
• Able to work with product vendors to come up with suitable patch recommendations without risking systems.
• Co-ordinate patching schedule with customers from end to end includes communication, scheduling change windows on regular basis with Project Managers, NOC (Network operations).
• Develop and implement patch and vulnerability remediation process including package creation, testing and deployment.
• Review and analyze new requests, work with IT partners, vendors, and business leaders to understand patch management needs; Partner on solutions and recommendations for business initiatives based on application requirements.
• Automation, scripting of System infrastructure.
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
• Providing documentation and reports on patching activities.
• Assist in the process for vulnerability and patch management ensuring they are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives.

Required Skills

• 3 + years of hands-on experience in administration of Linux platforms Like RedHat, Oracle Enterprise Linux, and Windows
• Proven customer communication and coordination experience
• Automation tools Ansible, puppet, shell scripting, PowerShell a must.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, SAN & NAS, DNS, FTP and NFS also with remote access and security.
• Hands on expertise in VMware automation using ansible/python is a plus.
• Expert knowledge in operating systems such as Windows, Linux, etc.
• Familiarity with security issues and best practices for virtual environments.
• The ability to work closely with Business and development and a thorough understanding of the balance between business and patch requirements.
• Proficiency in scripting of OS packaged installation of patches, software, and configuration changes, including power shell automation to improve patch management processes.
• Experience navigating the Microsoft Security Update guide portal and interpreting detailed descriptions of the security vulnerability, exploitability assessment and researching reported issues with deployed patches.
• ManageEngine or similar Windows patching tools architecture, administration for windows system management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; must be able to communicate technical solutions to senior management.
• Familiarity with cloud architectures (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, distributed systems) and approaches to address their unique management and security considerations.

• Knowledge of SharePoint, Splunk, Jira, Confluence, BMC Remedy a plus
• Knowledge of public cloud configurations and capabilities (Azure preferred)
• Knowledge of Vulnerability Management platforms (ex: Qualys, Tenable, or Rapid7)
• Certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server) are a plus.

Education: Bachelor's degree in related field (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems) or equivalent experience.
