The PM may be the principal customer liaison and must be able to manage concurrent projects adeptly. The PM must have the ability to work independently and remotely to perform initial project planning and lead the management of customer relationships during pilot and rollout efforts.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This individual will lead all planning and deployment aspects of customer projects in a particular geographic area with focus on one or more clients.
  • The PM will also be responsible for managing customer issues and coordinating customer training. The PM will be called upon to interface with internal customers (Sales, Marketing and Product Development organizations in particular) on product and systems improvements.
  • Interface with customer and contractor installation teams during installation. Work with and support outside contractors and customer installers to ensure project deployment timeliness and quality. Assist in documentation of project objectives, actions and as-completed materials, and all contracted reports as outlined in each project’s deliverables list.
  • Supervise on-going project deployment activities for contracted customers and assist as needed in all phases of deployment of a project.  Deployments vary in scope and may include multiple, parallel implementations requiring coordination of various teams from ITRON, contractors and the customer.
  • Lead project status meetings with customers and ITRON management as part of project deployment. Document and communicate all project issues, potential solutions, and recommended actions to the Regional Client Delivery Executive.
  • Must be knowledgeable of project scope and contract requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of project management, preferably on utility projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be able to describe multiple business situations where these skills have been leveraged.
  • Must possess above average written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and concurrent projects.  The PM must be able to coordinate multiple projects in varying degrees of deployment.
  • Experience in personal computer operations and use of word processing, project management, spreadsheet programs plus experience with off-the-shelf and special-purpose test programs.
  • Experience with MS Project
  • Experience and knowledge of gas, water and electric utility meter reading and related distribution automation technologies is desirable. Possess a valid driver’s license and a US passport.
  • Ability to have fun while working hard in a demanding, fluid start-up environment.
  • Domestic travel will likely be 20-30% but may require up to 50%.

 Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • Project Management experience on utility projects 
  • Distributed automation experience and gas, water, electricity meter reading experience
  • Experience with GIS, CIS and other utility systems is highly desirable.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Travel: 25-30%
