Role-Senior Systems Engineer

Itron is currently looking for a Senior windows/Linux Engineer to provide vulnerability management support to meet the corporate patch governance requirements. The Engineer will work with Security, infrastructure, application, and customer teams to make sure OS level vulnerability issues are addressed in Itron hosted environments. The work will include our datacenters systems as well as cloud hosted windows and Linux environments.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize pre- and post- patching processes to ensure proper implementation without any outages.
• Co-ordinate patching schedule with customers from end to end includes communication, scheduling change windows on regular basis with Project Managers, NOC (Network operations).
• Implementing and managing operating system (Linux and Windows) patching processes
• Able to work with product vendors to come up with suitable patch recommendations without risking systems.
• Review and analyze new requests, work with IT partners, vendors, and business leaders to understand patch management needs; Partner on solutions and recommendations for business initiatives based on application requirements.
• Administration and development of VMware Infrastructure and cloud infrastructure & define best practice.
• Administration, and development of storage Infrastructure and backup infrastructure & define best practice.
• Automation, scripting of System infrastructure.
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
• Providing documentation and mentorship and reports on patching activities.
• Assist in the process for vulnerability and patch management ensuring they are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives.

Required Skills

• 7 + years of hands-on experience in administration of Linux platforms Like RedHat, Oracle Enterprise Linux, CentOS, and Windows
• Proven customer communication and coordination experience
• Must be able to come up with solutions and presentations.
• Automation tools Ansible, puppet, shell scripting, PowerShell a must.
• 3+ years of experience in managing public cloud.
• The ability to work closely with Business and development and a thorough understanding of the balance between business and patch requirements.
• Experience of Storage/SAN.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, SAN & NAS, DNS, FTP and NFS also with remote access and security.
• Familiarity with Oracle Concepts, i.e. ASM, RMAN, Data Guard.
• ManageEngine or similar Windows patching tools architecture, administration for windows system management.
• Hands on expertise in VMware administration and automation using ansible/python.
• Expert knowledge in operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
• Hands-on expertise in cloud architectures (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, distributed systems) and approaches to address their unique management and security considerations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; must be able to communicate technical solutions to senior management.
• Familiarity with security issues and best practices for virtual environments. enterprise systems architecture and IT project/program delivery focusing on infrastructure, storage, SAN & Backups.

• Knowledge of SharePoint, Splunk, Jira, Confluence, BMC Remedy a plus
• Knowledge of public cloud configurations and capabilities (Azure preferred)
• Knowledge of Vulnerability Management platforms (ex: Qualys, Tenable, or Rapid7)
• Certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, RedHat, Azure, AWS) are a plus.
• Experience with Kubernetes a plus.

Education: Bachelor's degree in related field (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems) or equivalent experience.
