Senior Systems Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to help design, build-out, automate, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission-critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. You will work on a global infrastructure that includes Azure cloud deployments and in our Data Centers in the United States, APAC & Europe.
Job Responsibilities
- Automation: Analyze, design, and implement tools for systems and VMWare infrastructure deployment/management.
- Design, administration, and develop Kubernetes Infrastructure & define best practices.
- Design, administration, and development of Azure Infrastructure.
- Administration and development of OS Images (Windows or Linux) and orchestration in both Azure cloud & in our data centers.
- Resolve support issues and come up with permanent fixes.
- Tier 2/3 On Call support of production infrastructure.
- Disaster Recovery Operations.
- Automation, and scripting of System infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
- Increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of experience with large VMWare infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience in managing Azure
- Experience in a major system architecture or VMware or Azure/AWS environment
- Ability to come up with solutions and presentations
- Ability to lead the infrastructure side of projects
- Experience with Automation tools like Ansible, puppet, and shell scripting
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, SAN & NAS
- Prior design experience in cloud infrastructure
- Hands-on expertise in VMware automation using Ansible/python
- Ability to work independently and drive across internal teams and storage vendors
- Must be adept at identifying and eliminating performance bottlenecks and making performance-related recommendations (hardware, software, and configuration)
- Familiarity with Oracle Concepts, i.e. ASM, RMAN, Data Guard
- In-depth knowledge of DNS principles and architectures
- Expert knowledge in one of the guest operating systems such as Windows, Linux, etc.
- Familiarity with security issues and best practices for virtual environments
Desired Skills
- Experience in Storage/SAN is a major plus.
- Multi-tasking experience
- The ability to think creatively and communicate their ideas effectively
- Demonstrate good communication skills, written and spoken, and be capable of presenting technical concepts to audiences of various technical abilities
- Knowledge of Sharepoint, Splunk, and Jira a plus
- Ability to mentor & Train others.
- Experience with Kubernetes a plus
